Chinese for travel: 10 days on HSK 1–2

It covers a ten-day trip: numbers, directions, check-in, one dish, and a short emergency. It does not cover fluency or a month of immersion dressed up as a packing list.

It is not the phrases hub. It is not the business path. It is not exam prep. Mixing all three the week you fly is how you reach 登机口 (dēngjīkǒu, boarding gate) without your seat number in Chinese.

In big cities you can survive with camera translate. That does not order noodles or handle 押金 (yājīn, deposit). Short Chinese changes the counter, not a search ranking.

Ten days do not need a date on chinesetest.cn. If the paper is the goal, that is another URL. Here the job is to land, pay, and not miss the platform.

Classic six-level counts: Wikipedia HSK. HSK 1 is about 150 words. HSK 2 is about 300 cumulative. That covers greetings, numbers, 吗, places, and a little food. It does not cover wide conversation.

Teaching note: 这个多少钱？ (zhège duōshao qián, how much is this?) and 请再说一遍 (qǐng zài shuō yí biàn, please say it again) beat twenty dish names. The restaurant has its own page. Do not clone it here.

HSK 4 (about 1,200 words) is the first booklet of wide topics. Cramming it just in case the week you fly evaporates the trip. A platform announcement will not wait for 成语.

If you stay more than two or three weeks, classic HSK 1 stops being a luxury. Paper detail: HSK 1 guide. Inventory: HSK 1 list. A ten-day trip is not that stay.

Count to 100 without looking. Prices and platform numbers come fast. 太贵了 (tài guì le, too expensive) is said out loud, not recognised on a card.

Minimal pairs: 买 (mǎi, to buy) / 卖 (mài, to sell). In a market a flat tone is not quaint; it is the wrong price. The tones guide is the ear; this page is the trip calendar.

Add 请问 (qǐngwèn, excuse me) before every question to a stranger. 地铁站在哪儿？ (dìtiězhàn zài nǎr, where is the metro?) without 请问 sounds like a shove.

Do not run a three-hour Saturday with the suitcase open. Fifteen minutes a day for the ten days before you fly beats the binge. HSK 1–2 can be studied free with daily limits.

First block on the ground: 我有预订 (wǒ yǒu yùdìng, I have a reservation). 护照 (hùzhào, passport). Many hotels take 押金 and a room code, not a physical key. Practice 密码 (mìmǎ, password) and 电梯 (diàntī, elevator).

Payment: 微信 (Wēixìn) and 支付宝 (Zhīfùbǎo) are the counter. 可以扫码吗？ (kěyǐ sǎo mǎ ma, can I scan?). 现金 (xiànjīn, cash) is sometimes not enough. This is not tech vocab: it is the day's errand. More app lexicon: themed vocabulary.

Transport: 去机场 (qù jīchǎng, to the airport). 网约车 (wǎngyuēchē, ride-hail) is not the same dialogue as 出租车 (chūzūchē, street taxi). If you only point at GPS, you may still need 停这儿 (tíng zhèr, stop here).

Point at the menu if you must. Add 不要辣 and 我过敏 (wǒ guòmǐn, I am allergic) if health is on the line. The rest of the menu is in restaurant phrases, not here.

Teaching note: 我要这个 (wǒ yào zhège, I want this) plus a finger is a method. Memorising twenty 饺子 names is not this use case. Ten days are not a cooking course.

打包 (dǎbāo, to go) and 买单 (mǎidān, the bill) close the table. Ask for 发票 only if a company needs it; do not make it the whole trip.

If the trip is for work, 交货 waits for Chinese for business. Do not rehearse a quote in the taxi to the airport.

Keep offline: 我迷路了 (wǒ mílù le, I am lost). 请帮我 (qǐng bāng wǒ, please help me). 医院 (yīyuàn, hospital). 请叫医生 (qǐng jiào yīshēng, please call a doctor). In China, 120 is medical emergency and 110 is police; those are public numbers, not medical advice from this site.

Do not pack an HSK mock in the suitcase. Exam listening does not request a 登机牌 (dēngjīpái, boarding pass). The ear you need is the platform, not the paper.

Last day: 去机场 and 退房 (tuìfáng, check-out). If you still cannot say 请再说一遍 without panic, cut topics. Do not open an HSK 3 deck to arrive more prepared. You arrive more prepared with twenty phrases said out loud.

Do not pack an HSK mock. Paper listening does not request a 登机牌. Ten days are not a test center. Signup stays on chinesetest.cn for another trip in your life.

Do not pack the Chinese for business deck. 交货 will not get you off the platform. 您 at a fair does not replace 请问 on the metro.

Do not pack the whole menu. One dish, 不要辣, 打包. The restaurant catalogue already lives on another URL. Cloning it here will not feed you on day one.

Do not pack HSK 4 just in case. About 1,200 words do not fit in ten nights. Classic counts: Wikipedia HSK. The floor for this trip is HSK 1–2.

Teaching note: if you can only carry three lines, carry 请问, 这个多少钱？, and 请再说一遍. The rest is a finger on the menu. The 买 / 卖 tone is rehearsed at home, not in the market at ten at night.

You count and ask a price. You say 请再说一遍 without panic.

You check in with 预订 and a passport. You ask for 发票 only if a company needs it.

You order a dish or point, and you can say 打包 or 不要辣. You know 地铁站在哪儿 and 去机场.

If the checklist is red seven days out, cut topics. Ten days on the ground are not saved by HSK 4. They are saved by numbers, 请问, and one dish.

If you remember only one line on the platform, let it be 请再说一遍. The rest is a finger. The tone of 买 and 卖 was rehearsed at home or it was not.

The platform will not wait for you to unlock the phone. The method is ear first, camera second. 请再说一遍 is said to a person, not to a screenshot.

At home, the ten days before: five minutes of numbers out loud. 二 (èr) and 两 (liǎng) are not the same job. Platforms often use 二 in codes. A counter uses 两 for two beers.

Teaching note: 地铁站在哪儿？ without 请问 sounds like a shove. Rehearse 请问 plus one place. Do not rehearse twenty stations. Rehearse the frame.

If you miss a number, ask 请再说一遍 once. Then point. Three repeats with the app open are screen tourism, not survival.

OCR reads the sign once you have already stopped. It does not tell the driver 停这儿. HSK 1–2 (about 150 and 300 words) covers the frame. Counts: Wikipedia HSK.

Ten days are not exam listening. The paper ear lives in HSK prep. Here the ear is the platform and the 前台.

A ten-day trip can lose data, battery, or the 微信 login. Plan B is not HSK 4. It is cash, a paper with the address, and three lines said out loud.

Keep offline: 我迷路了, 请帮我, 去机场. Write the hotel name in characters, not only pinyin. Drivers read 汉字. Pinyin sometimes does not.

现金 is not always enough, but 可以扫码吗？ also fails without a network. Ask 收现金吗？ (shōu xiànjīn ma, do you take cash?) before you sit. That is not on the menu. It is the errand.

Teaching note: 停这儿 is said to the driver, not to the camera. If GPS dies, a finger on a printed map plus 这里 (zhèlǐ, here) is the method. Do not open a neighborhood deck.

Do not improvise 交货 or fair-stand 您. That is Chinese for business. On the street the start is 请问, not a slide deck.

HSK 1–2 can be studied free, with limits. The app does not replace the paper with the address. Chinese Trainer does not book a hotel or hail the taxi.

Travel and food topics, not the full queue of a level you will not sit. Short listening from the same block. OCR if you will read signs; it does not replace 请问.

Fifteen minutes a day beats a three-hour Saturday with the suitcase open. HSK 1–2 can be studied free with daily limits. If you use the AI tutor, correct those lines, not a tour of Shanghai.

This site does not book flights and is not an HSK center. The framework sits with CLEC. Chinese Trainer is an indie product. AI answers can be wrong.

Ten days are not a course. They are a desk, a QR code, and a dish. If the trip stretches, then open HSK 1. Until then, do not mix the paper with the suitcase.

If someone sells you fluency for a ten-day break, show the counts on Wikipedia HSK and close the tab. HSK 1–2 with daily limits is enough to survive. It is not enough for an improvised mini-exam.

Pack 请问. Pack a number. Pack one dish. Leave HSK 4 at home.
