Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern chinesetrainer.com, the PWA, and Chinese Trainer mobile apps (the «Service»). By visiting the site, creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these terms, the Legal notice, the Privacy policy, and the Cookie policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Chinese Trainer provides tools and content to learn Mandarin Chinese (HSK vocabulary, spaced repetition, grammar, readings, practice, and, on paid plans, an AI tutor). It is a study tool, not an official exam center or an academic degree. Features, daily limits, and availability may change.

You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity under your credentials. You may not: (a) abuse automation (mass scraping, attacks, API reverse engineering, bypassing limits); (b) share, resell, or sublicense paid access; (c) post illegal, abusive, or infringing content; (d) impersonate others; (e) interfere with the Service or other users. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

There is a free plan (HSK 1–2 with daily limits) and paid plans described at /pricing, billed through Stripe. Paid plans include a 7-day trial; a card may be required to start the trial and you are charged only if you do not cancel before it ends. You can cancel anytime from Settings (Stripe customer portal); paid access lasts until the end of the period already paid or the active trial. Except where EU/EEA consumer law or other mandatory rules require otherwise, we do not refund partial periods already started. Prices may change; we will give reasonable notice when a change affects a renewal. Applicable taxes are handled via Stripe according to your country.

Chinese Trainer and its licensors own the software, design, brand, vocabulary, lessons, readings, and other Service content, except content you submit. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal learning while your account is in good standing. You may not copy, bulk-extract, redistribute, or build a competing product from our content or APIs.

You keep rights in text, audio, or other material you submit (for example tutor messages, community posts, or feedback). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, and display that content only as needed to operate and improve the Service. Do not submit material you do not have rights to. We may remove content that violates these terms or the law.

The AI tutor and generated content (readings, listening, translations, corrections) may be limited to Premium or other paid plans. Replies are produced by third-party models (e.g. OpenAI) and may contain errors, gaps, or inaccuracies. We do not guarantee that the tutor always matches your level or that corrections are complete. Chinese Trainer does not guarantee that you will pass any official HSK exam or achieve any particular learning outcome. Do not rely on the tutor as the sole basis for academic, professional, or immigration decisions.

Personal data is handled as described in the Privacy policy (/privacy) and Cookie policy (/cookies). Creating an account means you accept that processing, including sending necessary text to AI providers when you use AI features.

The Service is provided «as is» and «as available». To the extent permitted by law, Chinese Trainer is not liable for indirect damages, data loss, lost profits, or inability to use the Service except in cases of willful misconduct. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (including mandatory consumer rights). If you are an EU/EEA consumer, you keep rights that cannot be waived by contract.

These terms are governed by Spanish law. Unless mandatory consumer rules require another venue, disputes are submitted to the courts of Spain. EU/EEA consumers may also bring claims in the courts of their country of residence.

We may update these terms. The «Last updated» date on this page shows the current version. For material changes we will announce them on the site or by email when reasonable. Continued use after the new version takes effect means you accept it, unless the law requires express consent.
